We have decided to change the format of this year's event. The arrangements will now be:
- An informal club ride-out with backup and support for up to 40 people
- Same route BUT starting and finishing in Ballater
- Includes free soup and a roll on arrival, B & B at Aviemore (Badaguish) on Saturday night (either Wigwams, camping or in the Holiday Care Unit)
- There will be no minimum pledge to the charity
(but a suggested a donation of £50 to cover the cost of bed and breakfast at Badaguish).)
DAY 1 (120 miles) - START 8am Ballater – Glenshee - Kirkmichael- Pitlochry – Aviemore (Badaguish).
DAY 2 (50miles) - START 8am Aviemore (Badaguish) – Bridge of Brown – Tomintoul - Lecht - Ballater

CYCLE FOR CHARITY
All proceeds from this event will go to the Speyside Trust, a small; independent registered Scottish Charity, raising funds to enable people with disabilities to enjoy an outdoor activity holiday. We provide full 24hr respite care for individuals, giving them an independent holiday with activities to suit their ability including, canoeing, cycling, rock scrambling, archery, swimming, trampolining and much more plus day visits to places of interest. Every £200 raised enables a person with disabilities to enjoy a unique outdoor holiday experience. The Charity relies totally on the generosity of those who believe in what we are seeking to do by encouraging us, working with us and giving us financial support. REGULATIONS
Cycle Cairngorms
is a challenging event, but we want to make sure it is also
fun. Please take a few minutes to read all
the Regulations below and always abide by
the rules of the Highway Code.
- Competitor numbers are to be
worn and clearly displayed at all times
- Competitors must comply with all safety information
- No Relay Teams are allowed, each team must
complete their own option
- Safety approved Cycle helmets are compulsory
and must be worn at all times when cycling - No
Helmet—No Cycle!
- All competitors are required to register
on the day
- Cyclists must follow the Highway and Outdoor
Access Code - Please be aware of other Road Users
- You must not deviate from the official route
and remain part of the event
- Be aware of other cyclists and enable faster
cyclists to pass you
- You are requested to ride in single file
where appropriate and no more than 2 abreast at any time
- We strongly recommend that all competitors
have their bikes serviced before the event to ensure that it
is in a suitable condition to complete the 2-day event.
- We would recommend you carry inner tubes
and a pump for any punctures. Competitors will be responsible
for any on the road repairs
- You must obey the traffic officers and authorised
marshals at all times, failure to do so will result in disqualification
- All competitors will be provided with a route
card and emergency contact numbers
- You may not use your mobile phone while riding.
You must stop at the side of the road if you need to make or
receive a call
- The Organiser will endeavour to provide every
participant with a finish time but is not responsible for any
electronic timing anomalies
- No bicycle, tandem or other machine, conventional
or otherwise, is permitted to have unconventional handlebars
including triathlon bars, aero bars, clip-ons, prayer bars,
and cow bars
- The Event Organisers reserve the right to
alter or amend the rules and route as circumstances dictate
and their decision on any event related matter is final

| When should I enter? |
| Entries are restricted to 40 so don't be disappointed, enter NOW by clicking on the link within our How to Enter section above and follow the easy instructions. |

| How much is it to enter? |
| It depends whether you enter for Day 1 only or Day 1 and Day 2 - details can be found on our online Enter page |
| |
| Do I have to be sponsored? |
| We would encourage all participants to support
our charity, Speyside Trust.
All funds raised from this event will go to supporting Badaguish
Outdoor Centre. Option 3 allows you to participate non-sponsored. |

| Can I enter if I'm not a member of a
cycling club? |
| Yes but you must be an experienced cyclist,
must be over 16 years of age on the day of the event, and be
able to cycle at least 12 mph over a sustained distance. |
| |
| How fit do I need to be? |
| Day 1 has several big climbs and previous training
will be required. Day 2 is not for novices or inexperienced
cyclists - you need to be fit enough to cycle 120 miles in a
day and cycle considerable climbs of 1 in 5. |

| Is there an upper and lower age limit? |
| There is a lower age limit of 16 years .There
is no upper age limit. |
| |
| What facilities will be available along
the route? |
| Water and feed stations, toilets, litter bins,
first aid facilities and radio communications will be available
at strategic locations throughout the route. Exact locations
will be notified nearer the event dates. |

| Where do I stay? |
| You must make your own accommodation arrangements.
The planned venue for the Saturday overnight stop is Ballater.

| Do I need specialist equipment? |
| All participants shall wear safety approved
cycle helmets at all times when cycling. Approved cycling
helmets of ANSI 4, SNELL B90, EN1078 or an equivalent national
safety standard shall be worn. Cycle shorts, shoes and highly visible jerseys are recommended.
All riders should carry 2 drinks bottles with them, an energy
bar or snacks and at least 2 replacement inner tubes. Waterproof
jackets are also recommended. Due to the poor surfacing on a short section of the Sustrans
route we recommend you use 700 x 25 or 700 x 28 tyres to reduce
the risk of punctures. |

Outdoor Centre has over 15 years experience in organising sporting
events including the Corrieyairack Challenge and Aviemore Half
Marathon. |
